The FSA (Federation for Sport at Altitude) has been transformed into the new ISF (International Skyrunning Federation) on July 19, 2008 in Canazei, Trento, Italy. Representatives from 10 nations participated together with the board and members of the Federation for Sport at Altitude.
The principal aims of the ISF are the direction, regulation, promotion, development and furtherance of the sport of skyrunning and similar multisport activities on a worldwide basis. (Skyrunning is defined as running in the mountains above 2,000 metres altitude where the climbing difficulty does not exceed II° grade and the incline does not exceed 40%). Conforming to the new ISF Statutes and the Transitory Provisions, the ISF will establish their headquarters in Switzerland on January 2009 and during the transition period will be managed by the FSA (Federation for Sport at Altitude). The next step will be the constitution of the various commissions, the working group and the agenda for the next assembly for the admission of the new National Members and the election of the Management Committee.
